Overview
RTS Financial is the factoring business of Shamrock Trading Corporation, which RTS's own About page labels as its parent company. It is headquartered at 9345 Metcalf Avenue in Overland Park, Kansas, in the Kansas City metro, and its Kansas City page carries the line "Driving Success Since 1995". The same About page lists offices in 11 cities, from Atlanta and Chicago to Laredo and Phoenix. RTS's marketing is not consistent on its age: one page says "40+ years", another "30+ years" and another "three decades of industry experience". The 1995 date is the one RTS ties to its own founding.
We checked one ownership question directly because it comes up often: we found no evidence that RTS has been sold to Ryder or any other company. RTS's site still names Shamrock Trading Corporation as parent, and lists RTS alongside Ryan Transportation, RTS Capital and ProTransport as "The Shamrock Family of Brands". Ryan Transportation is a Shamrock logistics brand, not Ryder.
RTS sells freight factoring alongside a fuel card, a load board, a transportation management system, equipment financing and insurance. Its freight factoring page says it also factors for oilfield services, manufacturing and other industries, and it runs a separate page for textiles and apparel. When our editors reviewed it in January 2026, they recorded that it served carriers in the US and Mexico and was the best fit for fleets of five or more trucks.
RTS scored 58.6 out of 100 in our freight factoring ratings, the lowest of the seven companies our editors rated. See the full ratings and how we score.

Rates, advances and fees
RTS does not publish a factoring rate. Its freight factoring page has a rate estimator, but states that the figure "is an estimate only and does not represent a guaranteed offer". Its comparison page says fees "will vary based on your volume and account". In other words, the price you are quoted depends on your monthly volume and your brokers' credit, and there is no public number to hold RTS to.
On the advance, RTS says it buys the invoice and "advances more than 90 percent of the total within 24 hours", then sends the remaining balance minus a fee once the broker pays. The FAQ repeats the same figure and adds that funding limits depend on your business and your customers' creditworthiness, with no limit possible where buyers are strong. RTS stresses that factoring is not a loan and that approval rests on your customers' credit rather than your balance sheet.
What RTS does publish is a list of fees it does not charge. Its comparison page promises "zero hidden fees, including no ACH fees or invoice uploading fees". At the January 2026 review our editors also recorded:
- Same-day funding for a $10 fee, with next-day funding free
- No application or set-up fee
- A monthly volume tier structure that can lower your rate as volume rises
- Discounts for US veterans
We could not confirm the $10 same-day charge, the absence of a set-up fee, the tier table or the veteran discount on RTS's current pages, so treat them as our editors' January 2026 record and confirm them on your quote.
The volume tiers make RTS pricing more attractive to larger fleets than to owner-operators. Ask for the full tier table, not just the rate at your current volume, and ask what happens to your rate if volume falls in a slow month. Then run the quote through our factoring calculator and check it against our list of hidden factoring fees.
The fuel card is the other half of the RTS pitch. RTS describes it as offering "substantial savings on diesel fuel" but publishes no per-gallon figure on the pages we checked, so ask for the discount schedule at the stations on your usual lanes. RTS also offers equipment financing to factoring clients only, and its FAQ says those credit decisions are made without a hard inquiry on your credit report.
Contract terms
RTS publishes almost nothing about its contract on its website. Its comparison page promises "competitive contract terms" and says RTS can work with you on a buyout from your previous factoring contract. Everything else below comes from our editors' January 2026 review, and none of it appears on RTS's public pages:
- A standard 12-month term
- No termination fee if you give 60 days' notice
- An early termination fee of about $5,000 otherwise, with some room to negotiate if you stay in good contact with your rep
- Recourse and non-recourse options
- A large broker network, limited to brokers rated A, B or C
- A collateral-specific UCC filing, made as soon as RTS has your customer data
Applying took longer than at most competitors. Our editors found no online application; you had to speak with a sales representative, a credit pull was required, and approval could take about a week. Because RTS files its UCC lien so early, you are effectively committed from the start.
Read the agreement before you hand over your customer list. In particular, check whether the 12-month term renews automatically, exactly when the 60-day notice window opens, and whether non-recourse cover is limited to broker insolvency. Our guide to reading a factoring contract explains the termination clauses to look for, and our recourse versus non-recourse guide explains what a covered credit event usually means.
Funding speed and service
RTS's comparison page promises "funding within 24 hours, including bank holidays", and its freight page says you can "get paid the same day" through its app, where you upload invoices and paperwork. RTS does not publish a daily cutoff time, so ask for one: it decides whether a load delivered in the afternoon is paid today or tomorrow.
Support was the weak spot in our editors' review. At the time, RTS's website listed no phone number or email address, and carriers had to fill in a form to get a call back. When our editors found and called the support line, they were put on hold and then disconnected several times. Support ran on standard business hours, about 8am to 5pm. RTS's Kansas City page now shows a phone number, (913) 393-9759, but the main freight factoring page still routes new customers through a contact form.
Complaints and reputation
RTS scored zero on both BBB complaint criteria. Under our method the company with the most complaints on the list sets the benchmark and scores zero, and at the January 2026 review that was RTS. Its BBB grade at the time was A+, and RTS's own comparison page still advertises an "A+ rating from the BBB". We were not able to locate RTS Financial's BBB profile when we searched again in November 2026, so we have not re-confirmed either the grade or the complaint count.
Public reviews compiled by our editors were better than the complaint record suggests. Reviewers praised an efficient funding process, a responsive team, a wide range of services, a convenient app and large fuel card discounts. Negative themes were:
- Poor communication
- Confusing contracts and fees
- Rigid policies, especially around ending a contract or getting an early release
That last theme lines up with the contract terms above. Carriers who are happy with the service rarely run into the exit fee; carriers who want to leave mid-term do.
Who it's for
RTS fits established fleets of roughly five or more trucks that can use its volume tiers, its load board and its fuel card, and that are confident they will stay for at least a year. The bundle is the point: a fleet buying fuel, booking loads and factoring through one company can get value from all three. Owner-operators and anyone who wants an easy exit or quick access to support should look at higher-scoring companies first. New authorities should read our guide to factoring with a new authority before committing to a 12-month term. If you do sign, put the 60-day notice deadline in writing on your calendar.

- Fuel card, load board and TMS from the same company
- Volume tiers that can lower the rate for larger fleets
- Long track record under the same parent, Shamrock Trading Corporation
Cons
- Most BBB complaints of the seven rated companies at the January 2026 review
- An early termination fee of about $5,000, as our editors recorded it
- No published rate, cutoff time or contract terms
- Slow application through a sales rep, with a credit pull
- Hard-to-reach support at the time of our review
- UCC lien filed as soon as your customer data is received
How it compares
Against the other freight factors we profile, RTS sits at the bundled, contract-based end of the market. Bobtail publishes a fee range and same-day cutoff and offers a 90-day trial before any long commitment. BasicBlock advertises no contracts and a published 2.5% rate, which suits smaller carriers who want to avoid exit fees entirely. TBS Factoring is closer to RTS in offering a fuel card and back-office services, but with bookkeeping and permits instead of a load board. If the RTS fuel card and load board are worth less to you than easy exit terms, one of those may be the better fit. You can also line up quotes side by side on our compare page.
